About Landfaller

Built by someone
who's been through it.

Landfaller started in Rotterdam because navigating the Dutch system as a newcomer is genuinely hard — and nobody was making it easier.

Our story

The Dutch bureaucracy maze — and how we found the exit.

When I arrived in Rotterdam, I had a job offer, a suitcase, and absolutely no idea what a BSN was.

Within my first week I discovered that you need a BSN to open a bank account, a bank account before your employer can pay you, and a registered address before you can get a BSN. A classic Dutch chicken-and-egg problem that nobody warns you about.

"I spent three weeks trying to figure out a system that nobody explains in English."

I eventually figured it out — the BSN, the DigiD, the health insurance, the 30% ruling (which I nearly missed entirely because nobody told me about the 4-month deadline). But it cost me weeks of stress and hours of googling Dutch government websites I could barely read.

Then friends started arriving. Then colleagues of colleagues. Then strangers from expat forums. Everyone had the same problem: they didn't know what they didn't know.

Landfaller exists because that gap — between arriving in the Netherlands and actually being settled here — shouldn't be that hard to cross. We speak plain English, we know the system inside out, and we're based right here in Rotterdam.

If you're new here, or your company is relocating people here — we'd love to help.

What we stand for

How we work

Plain English, always

No jargon, no bureaucratic language. We explain everything in straightforward English, whether you're a first-time arrival or an HR manager dealing with your tenth international hire.

Honest about what we can't do

We tell you upfront when something requires a licensed tax advisor or immigration lawyer, and we connect you with the right partner rather than pretending we cover everything.

Results, not reports

We measure success by whether you're actually settled — BSN in hand, bank account open, 30% ruling filed. Not by how many pages of advice we delivered.

What we know

Deep expertise in the Dutch system.

We stay current on every change to Dutch immigration, tax, and subsidy rules so you don't have to.

BSN & municipality registration

Every gemeente has slightly different requirements. We know the quirks of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague.

30% ruling — including 2027 changes

The ruling is changing from 30% to 27% in 2027. We track every update and advise accordingly.

IND permits & visa routes

Highly skilled migrant, partner visas, self-employed permits — we know which route fits your situation.

Dutch rental market

Rotterdam and Amsterdam's rental markets are tight. We know what landlords actually require and how to get to the front of the queue.

Health insurance & zorgtoeslag

Which insurer, which package, and whether you qualify for healthcare allowance — we know the answers.

M-form & Dutch tax returns

The partial-year tax return that almost every expat needs and almost nobody knows about. We handle it via certified partner accountants.

Our partners

We don't do everything alone.

For services that require a license — tax filing, immigration law, formal IND submissions — we work with a trusted network of certified professionals in Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

When you work with Landfaller, you get one point of contact — we coordinate everything. If your situation requires a registered accountant for an M-form or an immigration lawyer for a complex permit, we manage that relationship and brief them fully so you don't have to repeat yourself three times to three different people.
